Qualcomm Technologies

Qualcomm is currently the largest supplier of chips in Android phones manufactured by giant companies like Samsung and Xiaomi. Their fiscal 2021 report shared that they ended with $7.7 billion in chip sales, 60% of which were for handsets.

In the past years, an increase in the demand for high-end mobile chips has been seen. Nvidia, for example, produces the processor for Nintendo Switch, which has sold over 92 million units since 2016.

AMD also makes the processor for gaming consoles such as Sony's PlayStation 5 and Microsoft's Series X.

According to AMD, the increasing demand for gaming consoles has contributed to a higher-than-expected revenue during 2021's last 2021 quarter.

Qualcomm releasing the Snapdragon G3x for gaming consoles will change the market and possibly even out the playing field.
